When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
:money::money:

Wot, no thread up yet? Everyone so flush as to be abandoning their DFW ways just after xmas?

Certainly not feeling very flush here. Im already dreading that long January waiting for the pay packet game!

Back at the office today, but practically just me. Hopefully will allow me to plow through lots of work that I havent gotten to earlier in the year.

In MSE life here:
  • leftovers for tea - yesterday's chicken soup from xmas carcasses was a resounding success
  • dont think the office will provide lunch as normal as theres no one here, so will have to pop out at lunch time to get something cheap
  • movie night in. Boy has gotten one of those amazing little projectors as a Christmas present, so we'll be watching Machete (has everyone seen it? its brilliant) on that with roommie and her visiting boyfriend.
  • check banking, update budgets and update siggy
  • get answer from boy on NYE trip to Jinja and if yes book cheep accommodation
  • pop down to veg market to get last few things for meal plan to round out leftovers
  • might go down to gym after work but feeling quite crampy in a lady way so may slink off

Happy tuesday, everyone!

Morning NTBY  no not abandoning the ways I was still chasing zeds! Can you put a :) in the title please? Nearly missed the thread with my bleary morning eyes!

Sorry to hear ur back at work, I am so happy to be off for a week! Although it is good when everyone else is off and you can get loads done, its a real skill to be able to work efficiently when you're surrounded by people!

    Me today:
    • some kind of leftovers for dinner - I currently have a load of veg, a load of turkey from xmas day & a load of beef from yesterday and no room in my freezer! after going through the fridge turkey curry it is to use up carrots!
    • [STRIKE]check through fridge[/STRIKE] - didn't do this yesterday :o
    • [STRIKE]check banking x2[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]check ccx2[/STRIKE]
    • go for a run
    • call and book in a massage me for and my friend - we are going to a spa on Thurs and with the tickets I bought its 25% off any treatments :T (will use leftover funds from xmas present savings not spent ;))
    • take library book back - gonna have a fine of 40p I think :o
    • go and sign up at the new gym which is smaller than the one we have been going to and has a sauna :j
    • go for a lovely winter walk, walk off excesses of the last few days & blow out the cobwebs
    • NSD? Possibly unless we have a pint half way through the walk!
    • make banana bread to use up brown bananas! ;)

  • Morning all! I haven't disappeared yet either - just seeing off the visitors (and making sure they've gone!)

Going to have a relaxed day after the constant fetching, carrying, tea making, washing up and general dogsbodying of the last 3 days:mad:
I love my family but I'm always happy to have my house back and a bit of calm!

    So to do today...
    • Hoover and dust whole house (like a bombs dropped at the moment)
    • Go through the fridge and work out what's left over and plan some meals around it (not food shopping until the weekend)
    • Clean the guest bathroom
    • Have a bath and spruce myself up a bit (still in dog walking get up, not an attractive look!)
    • Do a mini budget to get me to payday (still have £50 cash left in my purse, thought I'd spend a lot more over the visitation)
    • Do 2 loads of washing (guest towels and a darks wash)
    • Get in touch with friends to see if they can restore some normality to my life:)
    • Go through Xmas pressies and find a proper home for things and do a stock check on new smellies
    • Checked bank
    • Walked dog already -2 more to go
That's all for now - looking forward to some peace!
  • I'm waiting on a shopping delivery, which I paid for using the points I'd saved up all year. When it arrives, I'm going to make soup, chilli & sauces to freeze, so I have stuff ready for tea and work lunches in January.

    Today I have
    checked bank account

gotten all of my Christmas cards and wrapping paper for next year in sales

  • Evening everyone. Better late than not at all.
Today I have been pretty productive in the LEFTOVER TURKEY way!.
    I have made:

    Massive pot of turkey stew,
Family creamy turkey & tarragon pie,
    Single " " " " ",
3 x 2 meals of kicking hot turkey curry - will save a packet on takeaway curry. :rotfl:
ALL TUCKED UP IN FREEZER NOW.

    Also made dinner of:
Turkey (!), leek & sweetcorn creamy pasta dish. mmmmm

Still have some turkey left for morning to put into sarnies and then to make another turkey soup from.

Also made large batch of shortcrust pastry to make up some turkey & cheese mini pasties for kiddies packed lunches when return to school.

Have checked online banking, equifax credit report, renewed library books, got in bath after kiddies, and had heating off most of day.

Have also searched out relatively cheap school trousers for DS1, and a Cubs shirt for DS2 which i'm watching on ebay.

Played charades & hungry hippos with children tonight (they also sat and drew for a while before dinner) so saved on TV leccy!!

Oh, and also managed to get half price whole salmon reduced by another 12% because fishmonger lost price ticket. Have 10 fillets of salmon in freezer for dinners and only cost £8.60 for whole lot. :)

Am really pleased with my resourcefulness today and hope I can keep it up for 2012 to clear my huge and embarrassing debt by next Christmas.
