    Hi

Phone co-op and ask to open a cashminder account i can give you the number if you like. They will set it up no problem. You will also get an electron card and very good online banking. My account was set up over christmas without any delays.

You can apply on line for a nat west step account. i did this and it took 2 weeks from start to finish.

After you have applied they send you the forms in the post to sign and you go into anyone of their branches for then to veryfy your id . They will then send your signed form and verified id through their internal mail to the relevant department if you ask them to.

i found it all so very easy and hassle free.

    hope this helps

Hi, Have you actually tried going down to any of the high street lenders?

When I needed to open a new basic account I went down to the Abbey and explained that I wanted just a basic account and they opened it within 40 Minutes. I know actually ghetting to the brtanches can be a pain in the backside but actually speaking to a human rather than dealing with someone on the phone may be a good way forward.

It is a basic account your applying for and not a current account? If you apply for a current account a credit check is carried out and a friend who also needed to do this got turned down time and time again for a current account as they didnt realise the difference between them.
