Has anyone seen any folding bikes on sale anywhere? The cheaper and lighter the better.

It really does depend on your budget. At the lower end the proteam sells well on ebay. It has a steel frame though so will not be light to carry.

At the higher end there is Brompton, in between there are many choices. A good compromise buy is Dahon. Better still is a bike that uses Dahon patented technology under license.
This is such a bike and one i think is a good buy.
