UK economy has been destroyed by greed, nothing else.
They saw a quick pound to be made from importing everything and exporting nothing, never mind making it here and now the piggy bank is empty.
There is no recession here, the country is %%^&^£ simple as
I think you will find it was "money saving" consumers who made them choices.0 -
Total nominal GDP in US Dollars for the UK and Brazil compared as at end 2010:

(Figures come from the World Bank)
In 2011, up to and including Q3 Brazil's economy grew by 1.5% (link).
In 2011, up to and including Q3 the UK's economy grew by 1.1%.(link)
Now it's not as simple as that because GDP is shown in nominal terms at the end of 2010 but growth is in real terms (ie adjusted for inflation) but I think it's fair to say that the economies are probably of similar size. If Brazil's GDP is a ha'penny more or less than the UK's is neither here nor there really.0 -
Well done Brazil!0

How did we get membership to the exclusive club in the first place? Shame that people rarely read history these days. As explains so much about the world we live in today.0 -
Really, is nation state that important nowadays ?
Put yourself in the position of a wealth creator / entrepreneur / oil baron (feel free to add other terms).
Your labour force options are much more international these days. Why would you not make increasing use of Chinese, Brazilian or other cheap workforce ?

I think there's a lot in that kabayiri. Along with being willing to change career tack when jobs we did in the past become irrelevant. Keeping ourselves employable, relevant and wanted by employers is vital. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
