For me just now, it's things for the house that have been long neglected whilst paying off my debts.
However, as these are still "not essentials" they're been done the long hard slog way where I can .....
The £2 coin jar is going towards a new shed (£16/£150 there!) which is desperately needed so I've somewhere to put my veg planters/tools etc in the winter so I can get the car in the garage! It will mean I can grow more = save more money so a def win!
Any cashback I've earned is going towards a butterfly table (£52/£200 there!) which again is desperately needed to let me use my sewing machine to make/mend things! (I gave away the full sized table & chairs on Freecycle when I was given a kitchen dresser - which was badly needed for storage space - and couldn't fit both in and now have nowhere to sew!)
Hoping I'll find a butterfly table for under £150 in the sales - I was given £100 for Christmas so can stretch to that ... (and the cashback money can go towards something else or the shed!)
It's a constant struggle but, TBH, it's also satisfying to actually pay for something with "real money" rather than sticking it on an ever growing cc balance or the overdraft.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Apart from my rainy day savings,I save specific sums of money every month for:
-the yearly heating bill (I live in rented accomadation).Often I've got money left over once the bill's paid.
-my yearly travel card
-Christmas presents
-holidays,roughly every 3 months,but I only go away once a year.This money I often use flexibly!
-the house insurance money
-the TV licence (once a year here).
I really do love budgeting. It makes life so much easier.I give myself a set amount of money each week for groceries etc. Some weeks I don't spend it all, other weeks I have to borrow from the next week IYSWIM.
I also have started an 'emergency fund now,and plan to put money aside every month.I try and anticipate as much as possible,as I hate being hit by a big bill out of the blue.
For a haircut,I often put a little money aside from my weekly budget ;it doesn't seem so much that way.I also go on a 'cheap' day as well.

I have just opened an ISA in which I am going to start putting a fixed amount each month to cover the yearly bills - car tax etc. Also I will have this for my emergency fund. My current account will be for bills and everyday expenses. Anthing else will be moved temporatily into my savings account until I decide what to do with it.
This is the plan anyway - we shall see how reality pans out:rotfl:
I am desperately hoping that I will still be able to afford a holiday whilst on my DMP - I had already paid for next years before everything went pear shaped financially so at least I have that to look forward to. I suppose I should have cancelled it and got the money back but sorry - i am not that saintly. I would have got 500 of the 1000 pound back so it seems a bit silly in any case. Besides, it may be the last one for quite some time.
For now though, my aim is to put a little money aside for spending money on that holiday. Just pray to god i do not have any emergencies.LBM August 2011. DFD somewhere post [STRIKE]2025[/STRIKE]2022
