years ago there was a place like this... but it closed didnt last very long.... as people were letting their kids mess around etc.. so i got told.. and it didnt have the best of reputation for being clean.....
maybe today if something like that opened again.....with better standards.. it might take off..
i am talking about 25 years ago.. with that place.....
kscour.... we love the fresh juice from asda.. clemintine.. orange..... pineapple......and a tropical mix one......i really am going to miss that it was about £1.48 a bottle.... and it wasnt made from concentrate......
but i have found the extra large oranges from the market sooooo yummy that might get away with not buying it ..Work to live= not live to work0 -
I went to a sunday market near me today and got some stuff for lunch-boxes tomorrow. 5 choc gingerbread faces for £1, some more bread rolls and then on way back called at farm-shop again for some fruit, near till I saw they had a small fridge and picked up some cheese and a few yogurts. Co-op near me shut for a few days for a re-fit so no temptation there-lol0

The day of reckoning!
Well we were out of lemonade and spuds & low on sugar and butter/marg for baking. DD1 is down with sore throat & making the most of it!
We went to nearest town with greengrocer with added deli kinda of thing - spent £11.19 but got
400g of localish cheddar for £2.55 - the smell is enough to live on - no more rubber for me!
7 big oranges (1.400 g) for £1
2.5 kilo local spuds £1
doz running around but not quite certified free range local eggs £1.50
2 No. HUGE satsumas 30p
250g local butter £1.25
150ml soy sauce 85p
worcester sauce 150ml £1.29
&
260g mushrooms
250 g carrots
190g of the biggest brussell sprouts I've seen in my life!!!
faced with big dilema of no lemonade for OH. So couldn't face Tescos and headed for Lidl's. Been a while since I've been there but added to trolley
1 No. normal lemonade
1 No. cloudy lemonade
1 No. big chunk of edam
2 No. packs of butter - ok cheap multi country stuff like I've bought in tescos for baking but at least this stuff is packed 60 miles down the road
2 boxes of tissues for runny noses
1 doz ready salted crisps
1 No choc dessert rubbishy thing that "nana buys me"
pack frozen peas
chunk of broccoli (not in greengrocers)
200g of choc rubbish out of DD's pocket money
16 paracetamol
packet of spaghetti for spaghetti bolognaise it would appear I'm cooking tomorrow (cheers DD's!)
2 No. 1k pack of sugar
1 bottle high juice orange squash
total - £11.23
So on one hand I feel bad about resorting to lidl's but on the other hand I spent my money first in local shop and then opted to spend it in lidls so I don't feel so bad really. And I whizzed round lidl's compared to Tescos and spent alot less. Things I'm sure will only get better as I get more organised but if DD's hadn't been in car with me I may have made rude gestures as I past Tescos on the way home!!:rotfl:0 -
l must jointhis club.....l too am hopeless....go into tescos for milk..come out £50 poorer later.....eeeek0

I can't do this sorry. I work full time and the supermarket is the only place available to me most of the time. I have googled for farms hops etc and none except a, organic place. Been trying to get them to deliver a veggie box to me for 2 weeks and still not arrived. Will continue to try and cut down what I buy there but really need to use them. Good luck others xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

This is a great thread, :j I havent been to tesco since before christmas but i must confess to going into morrisons last week but only to spend my £5 voucher obtained though petrol points
Have been doing shopping in local village for a while now, but after re reading this site again a couple of days ago actually visited all the shops in the village and its amazing what some of the smaller shops sell.
Like Kscour I to went into the greengrocers today and the kids came out with a bunch of grapes, well they were like mini apples in my dd's hand. The lemons were huge as well.
The butchers was great as bought a huge joint and sausages and cooked meat.
I actually took longer to shop as ended up chatting in all the shops, what a lovely change no rush.
Im off to re look at the farm shop tomorrow out of town.
I totally agree that even if only a few of us take note of ths site and do our bit it will have a knock on effect with family and friends, I have already had my mum looking at her local shops.
Thank you so much for starting this thread :T2013 the year to be more organised0 -
havent you thought of a tesco.com online order... lol, not visiting the supermarket are you...
I couldnt do this, I would need to be well stocked up as Tesco Nappies are the only ones that dont give my son nappy rash. We’ve had to remove your signature because your opinion differs from ours.
