If you lose your job with a company that used to pay the National Insurance contributions that allow you to receive a State Pension - is it possible to continue to make these payments personally from your own savings ?

What are you doing now? If you are claiming JSA or ESA you will automatically be credited with national insurance contributions which contribute to your state pension. Same if you receive carers allowance, or are looking after children (and getting child benefit for them).0

Thank you very much for your replies.
Does this money HAVE to be paid steadily in monthly installments or can you make a single lump sum payment closer to retirement ?0 -
