I literally have no idea what you are talking about, is this english?

    Hi Wutang.

The question is asking if you take a survey adding the value of all the houses in the UK together in the 2 year period from 2006-2008 (there are a lot of houses so it takes a while) and compare that with the total of the same sum done in the period 2008-2010 then what would be the difference between the numbers?

Ok, question 4. According to the ONS (from Land Registry figures) which region (not Nation) has the highest rate of home owner occupation (incl those with a mortgage outstanding) and which region has the lowest in England, Scotland and Wales?

Answers to 3 & 4 tomorrow and a nice new thread for questions 5 & 6 for those that can still be bothered with this!

That is the little known 'Exagerationist' trillion - after all if the Americans can get away with calling one thousand million a billion why shouldn't I call a thousand thousand thousand a trillion :o

The billion became 1,000,000,000 in the UK in 1975. This is known as the 'short scale'. Most (but not all) non-English speaking countries including France still use the 'long scale'. The long scale 1,000,000,000 is called a milliard and in The City, especially in the money and FX markets, it is still the norm to call 1,000,000,000 'a yard' to avoid confusion.

I'd guess the South-East for the highest and North-west for the lowest. I was thinking Scotland for the lowest, but you said not a nation and I don't know how to divide Scotland.

For these stats Scotland and Wales are each regions in the same way that London or SW England are.

I'm going to guess the South West is the highest rate of home occupancy and London the lowest. Again, in reality, I haven't got a chuffing clue. Thanks for the quiz Gen, it's fun.

I'm going for Scotland as the highest and London as the lowest. Keep it up Gen
