These stores SHOULDN'T open until Tuesday but they will because they want the money and they will have customers because no one remembers how to stay at home with their families anymore..

Our Christmas holiday has been reduced to one day.. soon it won't exist at all!

Good. Why in the multi-cultural Britain that we live in, should the shops alter their opening hours around a single religion anyway is more the question?
They should open on Christmas Day as well, as it creates a good shopping day for those forced to not work on a religious holiday that they may not even agree with?

Besides, it's the ability to shop together as a family which makes the Boxing Day shopping work, as most of us work too much and have little time to shop with family normally. So seize the opportunity or stay at home - it's a free choice. Just because it's open, you don't have to shop!

I'm not a Christian but this is a majority Christian country whose culture and heritage has been vastly influenced by Christianity. For that reason, Christmas ought to remain a national holiday to reflect and respect Britain's history. Those of us of different faiths who wish to live in this country should be happy to respect this, I certainly am.

If they were open then many of the people who would want to shop would actually working. ;)

Totally agree with the above post. People are constantly moaning that Britain's traditions are being eroded and other religions are taking over, however no one seems to give a toss about our Christian history. Bizarre indeed!

I totally agree, If people want to shop then we will all have to work, Goodbye Christmas!

I am not against a multicultural society but have you tried to get a taxi at 1pm on a Friday during 'Jumu'ah Prayer' ? you won't get one!

On a positive note, on the way home from a hospital visit this morning, Toys R Us Stevenage was closed! Well done Toys R Us.
