CRB Portability!

Hi Folks,

I recently have my CRB done for 44 GBP. I need to apply for another job but i was told the previous one(done 2 months earlier) is NOT portable. How could applicant avoid this?
Must i pay the new fee again?

    often the employer will pay

    I know when I moved jobs I got to take the old CRB with me because it was less than 3 months old, but I'm not sure if that was because it was still NHS (moving to a different trust) or if the rules have changed since then (was 2008)

    That would be very rare in the private care sector, although some employers will pay it and then deduct the amount from the first pay packet.

    My employers have always paid, but I have to admit that I know very little about the private care sector. My current employers allowed my CRB to be 'carried over' from my last employment whilst the new one went through. It was 2 years old. Apparently if it's under 3 years old, it's up to the company whether they allow this or not. I have no idea if this is true, but seeing as CRBs are invalid from the moment that they are printed, the whole system makes little sense anyway...

    a CRB has the name of the company on it so you have to get a new one, some places will let you work with the old one till the new one arrives. I have recently joined 2 agencies and paid for 2 CRBs, my other job with the NHS they paid for it.

    In Scotland the Disclosure is being replaced with PVG (protection of vulnerable groups) and is transferable.

    Some private companies pay, the company I work for does.

    CQC would be interested in that, it is one of the things I have had checked in inspections. They have checked when employee started work and date of the CRB disclosure.

    on the old system this wasn't allowed. now crbs are portable, as you say depending on whether the company agree or not.
    Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

    Will you ever need to have another criminal record check?
    You might have to have another CRB check if you move to another job that involves working with children or vulnerable adults.
    If you have been asked to apply for a CRB check, and already have one from a previous role, you can ask if the organisation is willing to accept it.
    When deciding if they will accept it, the organisation will consider:
    the length of time since the check was issued
    the level of check needed
    the role the check was issued for
    the role you are applying for
    If your CRB certificate is lost or destroyed, the CRB can’t provide a replacement certificate. You will need to apply and pay again.
