Right - for those of you who can't complete the ebay challenge. Do you have any books that you don't want? They don't tend to do very well on ebay.

Savvy has suggested trying to sell them on fatbrains.co.uk - you type in the number on the back of the book, and they tell you how much it's worth. Then you print out a barcode, and send them off freepost. They send you a cheque back. :)

She also suggested another company called Zapper - none of my books were wanted on fatbrains, but they've done really well on this company.

    It's worth a try - go for it. :)

Thanks for this, and thanks to Savvy too. This looks ideal for me. I have LOADS of old text books etc that are just taking up room in the garage. It would be great if I could make a few pounds out of them. I'll definitely check this out :D

Just a quick reminder about S and S - still a bit of time if it has not been done.

Had a bad few days money making and spent a lot on a night out yesterday - I had a good time so it was worth it really.

I have just tried some of the book selling sites and they seem to be offering 30p for £25 hard backed books. I know they are second hand but I would have thought it would have been more than that. Maybe I am just trying to sell unpopular books.

Hope everyone has a good money making week this week and I promise if I owe you ratings on DY or C I will catch up. x

  • Thanks for those book sites, Elysia. - just might have a few I could sell!

I think I've now managed to get 4 reviews each on DoU & chow. Trying to do rating when I haven't time to write. £1.01 on chow last time I looked! Like Karonher, if I've missed rating you, let me know. Sometimes it all moves so fast I lose track of who I've rated!
  • thanks for the book sites, i have just sold 31 items and made £23.58. so pleased to get rid of things that are just gathering dust. this cheque will cover the £20 im short next month for bills woohoo, will definately stay out of over draft, unless something else crops up, hope not...

Hi - what sort of books were you selling? All I was offered was 30p for everything and some where hardbacks that had been read once and were £25 to buy. I dont expect to get a lot but I would feel better giving them to a charity shop as at least I know they would make a couple of pounds for their cause even if I did not.

  • Morning everyone.

I will check out the book sites when I get chance as I still have a few teaching books knocking round too that might as well go.

C as far as I know, the PF works for the calendar month which is then paid on the 15th of the following month. I have also just discovered that there is a review archive section, so I am going to change tactic. Instead of working my way through the new reviews list, I am going to go through these review archives. I'm not going to waste my time going through pages of rubbish then, and I am not going to miss anyone. It is in the members center bit. I'm hoping it will pay off getting me some extra rates back from real members, not time wasters.

DY also seems to be picking up. A review posted yesterday did get 50 rates. Relief there. I like to see around that many really to make it worthwhile.
  • morning everyone hope you all had a good weekend :D
