Unfortunately a lot of people were brainwashed by the last, profligate government ...
The last one as well, certainly.

Labour governments of the 70's encouraged the unions to believe they were entitled to any and everything. Thatcher was a backlash against union excess. She then unleashed the banks and encouraged the 'greed is good' and get-rich-quick-screw-everyone-else culture.

OK, so it seems boomers had it worse.

Despite all evidence. They just did.

So thread is over, bar the insults, I guess.

    no

what has been repeated stated is that people live a life based on the circumstances at the time

we don't know the future so we don't know if things will be better or worse or just stay roughly the same but whatever the outturn we all need to make the very best of it and enjoy a good life together

I for one am not saying boomers had it worst, thing now are totally different to when we were in are 20s some are worse some are better and most comparisons are meaningless. But blaming boomers for all of today’s problems is ridiculous.

After all the majority of young people now would have behaved just as we did and if we were born later we would have behaved as they do.

If that were true, the boomers wouldn't be changing and u-turning the new pension rules to suit them. They'd be happy with the circumstances at the time...

The whole thread just goes round and round.

Whats clear is that the younger generations are whingers. They should suck it up. Stop crying. Stop complaining. Get on with it. Spend to save the economy, but get slated for spending.

But what's also clear is that all of the above sentence is fine if you are a boomer and facing working up to 18months longer. Because that, my good friend, is just preposterous.

That's all there is to it really. Complaining about a situation is fine, if you are in the age group that the thing applies too. Fine for boomers. But if you are out of that age group, you are just whinging moaners who don't know they are born.

    Hence thread over.

Some things were worse, others were better. Probably about equals out overall. Don't think the boomers complained as much though.

To be fair the only place I hear people complaining is on this website most of the young people I know just get on with it.

Do you have many dicussions with younger people specifically about babyboomers?

If not, its probably why you aint hearing it and they aint talking to you about it.
  • Did they have a choice as to when they were born?

You have a bugbear about this but anyone born after 1954 will have to work an extra year, which includes half the baby boomers. The woman complaining were complaining that they would have to work an extra 2 years even after the changes many will still have to work an extra 18 months.
