P45 and tax code problem

I finished a temporary job on 30th Nov, working Tue/Wed/Thur a total of 22.5 hrs per week. I accrued around 39.5 hours holiday pay which was paid after I finished. I received a P45 from this job with the "leaving date" completed with 16th Dec. Can this be correct? Does it matter whether "leaving date" is 16th Dec or 30th Nov or some other date?
I was also on a week 1 tax code since the start of the above job (started in Aug) and this is now shown on my P45 which means that if I provide this P45 to my new employer I will again be taxed on a week 1 rate in my new job which I started on 1st Dec.
Should I just complete a P46 instead of using the P45 I was issued with and then contact my tax office directly to try and get a rebate for the overpayment of tax (traveling so not working for around 2months this summer).. or should I approach this in a different way? Has anyone else been in this kind of situation? Any help or advice would be great.

If you complete a P46 (Box B .....'only job - but I have had another one since Apr') you will still finish on week / Month 1.
You need to pass on the P45 - but seperately contact HMRC and get them to issue a cumulative Code. That will trigger any refund due.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
tell us your job history (including JSA if applicable) from April 20110

From start of financial year working until 3rd Jun.
4th Jun - 19th Aug - not working, no income but not claiming any benefits (traveling)
20th Aug - 30th Nov - working in job A
1st Dec - present - working in job B
Many thanks for the help so far.0
