Transfer from OR to RTLU - what does this mean?

Hi there -

My husband and I were released from our BR in April and are 18 months in to our repayment. I've just had a letter saying that my BR file will shortly be transferred to the RTLU who will deal with any assets remaining in my estate and payments that may be made to my creditors.

What does this mean for me? Is it normal for the OR to pass my file on in this way? (I don't think there are any assets - there was a flat that was sold but it was well in to -ive equity.) Will they deal with any change of circumstances in the same way as the OR has?

My husband's BR started on the same day but he hasn't heard anything yet. Is that normal too?

I would be so grateful if anyone who has any answers could get back to me. I was feeling so calm in the run up to Christmas and now am a bit panicked! Thank you.

Hi pinkapple, RTLU -Regional Trustee/Liquidator Unit. Its just another office of the Insolvency service and is usually a good thing it means the OR has dealt with your BR and the RTLU will monitor you till discharge. If you have an IPA or nil tax code in place the RTLU will deal with these too. So no worrying and have a lovely christmas

    Best wishes

I guess we'd just got used to dealing with our OR and kind of got an idea of what she thought/how she worked so this feels a bit like heading in to the unknown again!
But thanks for the reassurance - who knows the RTLU might end our payments early (if only!!!)

Can I suggest........that now the RTLU has taken over, teh OP [and any others] contact them, to find out who their handler is, and can an email address be exchanged?

This is handy for expediting all sorts of communication issues....an email got me a much improved response.....in fact, it was suggested by my handler, given the increased workload?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
