New job and 2 P45s

My previous full-time work contract ended in the summer, and when it finished I had some ad-hoc casual work (who I gave my previous p45 to), and I also claimed JSA (the casual job was fully declared). I've now started full time work again and have received two P45s- can I just give both to my new employer? Or do I need to wait until the end of the year and complete a form? At the moment I haven't given my employer either form so I assume I'm paying the wrong tax.

            What do each say?
What is the tax code on your current pay slips? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
If you have not given you employer a P45 at all (or completed a P46) you will be on a basic tax code which means you are paying tax on all your wages without any personal allowance.
I would be tempted to give them both P45s ASAP along with a covering note explaining why.
You should have a worthwhile refund to come!0 -
Which P45 is dated the latest? - use that one. Also if the Jobcentre were aware of the casual job it should be included in their calculations for your P45 (or at least i would have expected so).
I'd use the latest one or the Jobcentre one. If you are still not sure then give both to the new employer and let them sorted it out.0 -
Take a chance and give them the one that shows the least amount of earnings and tax paid.
Not sure everyone on here will agree but to be honest HMRC make mistakes and this may work in your favour.
(if it doesn;t, you haven;t done anything wrong and you will simply have to pay back any tax due later in the tax year)0
