Shelled pistachio nuts weight!!

I bought a packet of these which weighed 200g, I needed 105g for my Baklava recipe so I thought I would be covered. When I had shelled them I curiously decided to check the weight of the shells - I had 100g in shells and 100g in nuts!!

I constantly look out for the price of these nuts cos I nibble on them when ever I can afford them. I try not to pay more than £10 per Kg or £1 per 100g,

Now when purchasing these for ingredients they can be bought as pre-shelled kernals which gram for gram are more expensive, yet can be as little as £1.67/100g. (Mr T), Far more economical. Also Purchasing as the whole foods are much cheaper than the snacks

I feel slightly bemused at purchasing half a product which will be instantly thrown away.
