Certain ones are on offer at Argos. Can't make up my mind between the family grill which is £29.99 or the Heritage which is £24.99, so have ordered both to collect and will make up my mind when I see them both.

There are others on offer though http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500002901&langId=-1&searchTerms=GEORGE+FOREMAN

Discovered by luck this morning that the Argos £50 free gift voucher I got for buying a Dyson expires tomorrow, so need to spend it pronto.

I got this one from Amazon recently when it was on offer at £35. Still full price at Argos though, but it is the business and makes a cracking breakfast :D

I had the Family Grill (423/2290) for a year. It worked well, however, the fixed grill plates are a pain. It takes longer to clean the machine than to cook the food. After a year, the grill plate teflon had worn-off, & I gave it to a friend. It still works, but she doesn't use it much, as she hates cleaning it.

I now have a Tefal health grill. Cost twice the price, but has detachable plates for easy cleaning, adjustable thermostat, detachable power cord, multiple positions (grill, barbecue & mini-oven), can be stored upright for small footprint, etc. Weighs twice as much as the Foreman, i.e. much sturdier construction.

Cheap health grills are a false economy, & can put people off using one long-term. I suggest you consider investing in a more expensive model.

i bought the same one for the same price, and you're quite right it's brilliant! best thing about it is fried eggs that NEVER stick, no more scraping 'non stick' pans :T

it appears it's still on sale, might not work for the op as they seem to need to use their argos voucher however for anyone else wanting one it's well worth it! http://www.amazon.co.uk/George-Foreman-13589-4-Portion-Griddle/dp/B000LRYUQM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324637951&sr=8-1

whilst i agree a removable plate would be preferable, i have found that if i use a folded paper kitchen towel as the unit is cooling down i am able to remove all the gunge without any problems.

my old one did have the teflon coming off after 3 years of use but i'd not discovered the paper towel method yet. one thing i must say is NEVER use a damp sponge on a warm unit, no matter how lightly damp you think it is inevitably some water will get inside and blow the unit, as i learned to my detriment a few grills back!

you can use soap and water on it when it's cool and allow it to dry for a few days with no use but be sparing with the water! and be sure the unit is unplugged before using any water on it!

    I bought the purple one - 423/7659 £24.99

I have the GF cleaning sponges which really help.
If I cook mushrooms I always soak them first which helps clean the grill too.

I have the GF 3 portion one already. (on my 2nd as wear them out!)

    Wanted a bigger one
  • Everything I cook is using a George Foreman or microwave, because the first has a thermostat and the latter turns itself off. Any other way of cooking is dangerous for me because I do daft thinks like take the dogs for a walk just after I've put a pan on etc.

My GF has never let me down, but whether thats because I only use vegan food, but it needs virtually no cleaning at all.

Can't remember which one I have but it does not store on it's side, which is a nuisance as it's big. Other than that I have no complaints

Bought the red Heritage one in the end. It's a present for someone who has just moved into their first flat, so ideal.
