Posting on belhalf of my grandmother, who is looking to by her council home next year on the right to buy scheme, she has lived in it for 40 years and will get the full, £24,000 discount available. She saw the reports from conservative of possible 50% discounts on the house value and obviously didnt want to buy if these become available some time soon/
Does anyone have any information on these, if they will actually happen at all? If yes, when? will they also be in N Ireland or just England? i cant seem to see anything online about these happening when searching online as after it was reposted, everything seems to have gone quiet on it.
Many Thanks for any help.

Labour are not in power, or likely to be for a long time. They can write what they like - it's as relevant and realistic as Grimm's Fairy Tales. That's not to say that I'm any fan of the current shower of incumbents.

    £24,000 discount??? Wow. Just wow.

  • Sorry i meant to say conservative, current government
  • Speak to someone from your local houseing executive office, you will only get bitter people on here who cant get a council house and disagree with discount. We bought our house last year from the council and got it for a really good price, but we are hoping that we will get some more m oney back when the changes come in as when they changes the rules before my sister got money back even though you bought over a year after the rules changed. I think it was some EU rule that they had not given enough notice. This was when the cap was put on discounts.

Best of luck, keep us all informed.
