They also check your employer and quite often they know things about companies financial positions that employees are the last to find out.
If its local council they know what job cuts are to be made and which jobs will most likely be first, usually anyone who "does the work" instead of talking.
all these can be factors in denying credit
They can also check what you had for breakfast. People who don't eat a proper breakfast are more likely to default on their debts.0 -

No, if they use the correct DOB and Address it will appear under the credit file belonging to the person with that DOB and Address.
I have had this myself in the past, albeit a long time ago. It created an Alias, too.
Thankfully this data has since been removed.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks izools, I did think that credit could link via DOB and address but I wasn't too sure!
Anyhoo, I thought I would put the feelers out to Currys today about it all (who unfortunately were less than useless on the phone and tried to get me to speak directly to the sales assistant in the shop again about a credit matter!?) so I called the credit company directly and sure enough they confirmed it was an error in surname. They will rectify it, notify the reference agencies and confirm to me in writing. So there we go, no harm done after all.
Many thanks all for your input, I'm very grateful for your time :beer:0 -

That seems very strange to me!
It would mean that twins or triplets living at the same address would never have a secure credit report to themselves.
Maybe the rep for Experian will be on soon and tell us what the real situation is."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I know, right?
But I remember very destinctly that a search appeared on my Equifax file with middle name as my surname and no other names, just an initial.
So say for example my name is "John Smith Jones"
The search appeared as "J Smith" where all of the others appear as "Mr John S Jones" or "Mr John Jones".
Must've hit tab too many times on the application or something but there you go. Not sure Experian does the same but EQ certainly do...
Perhaps it's just surnames? Who knows...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
