Watch out for Fuji they use the 4MP on the box but these are effective pixels generated in software. The snesors are less than 3.3 MP in some Fiji cameras. Also the bodies are plastic, cheap to make and breakable.

Look for a full Stainless steel body like the Konicas you can get 3, 4 and 5mp from Morgan computers for £80, £90 and £105 £ + P&P but if you are near one of their store you might be able to pick one up?

They sell the Fuji cameras as well about £40 to £60.

Check when you collect the cameras that the instructions, straps etc are all in the box I had to go back for the strap!

Asda sells cases cheap and ebuyer do meory cards cheap.

Review of A340 (very indepth, sample pics, etc.), steves digicams and dpreview.com - both very good review websites. I would probably go with the Fuji over the Oympus, just on reputation. Mega pixels aren't always the best gauge of quality, the budget manufacturers often cut costs by producing very cheap lenses, and therefore don't take very good photos.

    Good luck

Must agree with redseven, my wife has an Olympus mju400 with 4mp and my cheapo Canon A60 with 2mp takes far better pictures despite costing half the price.

You'll not get that camera from dixons for that price, as i have wanted it for over 6 weeks and it is never in stock. And they won't sell it to you for that price instore. So i went to https://www.amazon.co.uk and bought the Olympus 310 great little camera and steves reviews was good on it. Read a lot of reviews on it and they were all possitive. And it was only £75 with free delivery.

You could buy the Samsung A400/Epson R300 package from Asda for £149, sell the R300 for £60 or so and have a camera selling at Argos for £150 at an effective price of c.£90

I think that the Olympus 310 is better than the C160 because the 310 has optical zoom and the C160 does not. And when i was dedicing on which camer to buy i was told that optical zoom was more important that digital zoom which the C160 has. I think with most of the cheaper or reduced in price cameras you need to buy a bigger memory card. All cameras came with a 16mb card. Hardly worth a carrot now. It is a nightmare when choosing a camera. I did purchase the Olympus C160 at christmas for a friends birthday. It was only after i did that i read replies to reviews that i had put on this web site. And someone even said that they would not touch it with a barge pole. Great as i had bought it. I was advised that optical zoom was more important than digital. So this time with a budget of £80 for a present i went out and searched for a cheap camera. And i came up with the Olympus 310 from Amazon with free delivery. I serarched through google for camera reviews. You have to be careful with this cause Olympus cameras have a different number in America. But i did read some good reviews. So as it had optical zoom and the price was right and i could get a 64mb card for under a tenner. I had been looking at the Dixon site for a while now and the cheap cameras were always out of stock. Non of those cameras have ever been in stock for the past 4 weeks whilst i had been looking.

Good luck in your camera hunt. I'm very happy with my purchase for the present. It was dispatched yesterday from Amazon so hopefully it will be here for Sat. As i go away on tue so i def need it for then.
