Night Job 36 hours.... Err make that days 18 hours!

Recently changed Jobs. It was for nights @ 36 hours a week. Anyway 5 weeks in I have only done 2 night shifts. They have said they cannot put me on nights as they are fully staffed and they can't offer me 36 hours a week as they have too many staff during the day! So am taking the odd shift here and there. Less then half my 36 hours. Where do I stand? Should I consider looking for another job? As far as I can see I am not breaching my contract as the hours are not there.
Many thanks!

  • All it says after that is " Your hours will be planned over a two week roster period and so the weekly hours worked may add up to more or less then the normal figure above. However, over a two week period calculating period, the hours will be correct."

so you should be on 72 hours a fortnight.

I'd be asking for the extra shifts per your contract but be nice about it cos they can of course just sack you and then you'll have no hours at all; and when you have a second job I'd be asking for pay for the hours whether or not you worked them.
