Halifax Mortgages

I had a mortgage approved in April 2011 then the offer on paper in July 2012, then the day before completion they withdrew the offer saying they "found" something on my credit file from a previous address.

I checked my files with Experian and Equifax and they show nothing has popped up in the last 8 months all the credit is exactly the same in fact one of the entries is now satisfied.

They then say it is a default for £4.5k which does not show up on either report, after all the fees i've paid and the life insurance cover i have been paying for 6 months just in case i die before the payments start so my partner is covered.

Where do i stand as i said nothing has changed in regards to my credit????

Have you queried it with them? Tell them you have copies of your reports and you cant see anything. Send them over.

If they don't want to lend you the money, they don't have to.

Have you checked you details at this previous address?

where you stand is in a very very nasty place indeed as, like opinions4u says, if they dont want to lend to you they dont have to. To pull out the day before completion is absolutely shocking, but they can do it if they wish. Good luck to you, I think your going to need it.

When you say "one of the entries is now satisfied". Have you previously had debt issues?
