Not had any ink for a while and our printer (whilst only about 3 years old) seems to be dated.

Does anywhere know a cheap place i can order ink for this please?

Try ebay, Never had to pay more than a fiver for HP338 and HP 343 . Just type in the cartridge code and see what comes up.
The codes for your printer are HP336 and HP3420 -
