Working on feedback

I recently received feedback from a job application that I was highly marked throughout the process apart from in one area. They said the one reason why my application failed was that I failed to bring my personality forward on paper.

Could people provide me with ways to correct this limitation in the future?

Does the job require personality? What job was it and what sort of personality does it require? To my mind, it looks like you were close, but on the slenderest of margins they preferred the other candidate, but now they feel obliged to give 'feedback', so they are fobbing you off with rubbish. If you failed to 'bring your personality forward on paper' why the heck did they waste time interviewing you?

On the whole, you can probably ignore feedback unless you get a consistent theme across several different lots of feedback.

they are looking for something like "as a life long dog lover and owner I have a strong affinity for animals and would love to work as a vet's receptionist" or "i have always enjoyed working with the public from my first days volunteering at the Oxfam shop and...."

So how is your personality a fit for the role they have on offer. Or "motivational fit."
