Confused filling in P50

I was trying to fill in P50, but I am confused with the wording in that form.

I have been unemployed for 4 weeks +, my last job finished in November and stopped claiming JSA back in August after I started temp-work in September.

Under Claim for payment section, it says "Your income since leaving your last employment" and it asks me to fill in the details.

Is it asking for income of my last job (the one I paid tax) and finished in November? or is it asking whether I have got any income after last job (those without tax, bank interest, bond , income from rent, etc) ?

Aslo where do I send it off to ?

It's asking for any income received since you ceased employment 4 weeks ago. And is looking for any part time / casual / pension income (as the tick boxes) in that period. If none of those - then tick the 'No income' box.

You send it (block capitals bottom right of the form) to the address on the front of the form. If no address then send it to :

    HM Revenue & Customs
    Pay As You Earn
    PO Box 1970
    Liverpool
    L75 1WX

Don't forget to enclose the P45.

  • Since being made redundant in August 2011, I have been claiming JSA which I now am going to stop even though I am not working and will not work until te new tax year. My question if anyone can help please, is I wish to completea P50 for a tax refund. The form asks who was my last employer, would this be my actual last employer or the JSA? Thank you

The latter (DWP) ........ you need a P45 from them before completing the P50.

  • thanks mileyorks,

however when i phoned HMRC they said to put down my original employer and leave the field blank which asks if any income earned since leaving.

on the next question it does ask if you were receiving JSA and which office.

It is confusing but the P45 would obviously include the benefit received so hopefully there should not be a problem?
