INAN..with the Civil service, it's all down to the 'chain-of-command....'

The CS is incredibly 'structured.....'.....rigidly so, in fact.

Whilst a simple suggestion could save time and money...it takes so much effort for a 'umble clerk' [E2 or E1] to push such a suggestion forward via the various processes, I don't suppose anybody on 12 to 14 grand a year really feels such effort is worth the mustard.

I'm a D grade...and strangely enough, within the rules and guidelines, I'm not actually 'allowed' to be an 'expert'....any more!

Yet I have, in the past, been formally noted as an SME!

'Expert' one day, but not the next?

Simply because, my 'expertise' no longer fits the 'current 'guidelines'....
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Alistair - I've worked in the Civil Service so I know full well the restrictions on anybody lower down the ladder being able to make a difference. It's not far different in large private corporations to be honest and I've worked in plenty of those too.

There are ways, but it depends who wants to stick their head above the parapet.
When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN :D

When they are actively recruiting 'voluntary' redundancys who wants to put their neck on the line, you can't even get them to pay for tea and coffee these days, not a happy place to be
