Cable Blasts Bankers with Brickbats

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011/dec/20/vince-cable-attacks-whinging-city
Vince Cable has served notice on the "whingeing" City that the coalition government will ignore the special pleading of bankers to make the economy less dependent on a sector that has caused "immense damage" to Britain.

Writing in the Guardian, the business secretary says the caricature of the City as a "source of systemic instability, unfettered greed and industrial scale tax dodging" is true, but he blames a small number of "rogue institutions" and a "sub-caste of financiers" for the blow to the Square Mile's reputation.

Putting himself somewhat at odds with Call Me Dave and his stockbroking family.

Go to the Mark Thomas podcast site, and listen to an interview with Vince from back in 2008.

At least he is consistent about his views on the banks.

Banks such as RBS are fundamentally changing without the intervention of politicians.

I am beginning to wonder what the point of Vince Cable actually is.

What is the difference between Vince Cable and someone who pays his tax on time?

    To give everyone a laugh.

Vince Cable has fallen into Govt by luck and has been shown to be outclassed and overwhelmed by the requirements and responsibility that it brings. Having a bit of power is what the LibDems needed to show that they couldnt just agree with everything that is popular to try and win votes. Vince Cable is the LibDem that has struggled the most from the injection of reality in to their ideals.
