Hi all.
Not sure if i'm in the right place for this, but here gose.
My father passed away at the begining of last year Jan 06  and we thought we'd kind of sorted out the financial situation, however my brother and his OH have decided to see if my dad was/is due a tax rebate. :wall: this is now causing my mum stress, as they want my mum's bank detail's and she's not up to giving that info out.
She and i dont realy know what paper work, or what the routine is for seeking a rebate from someone who's passed away?
Sorry for the sketchy info at the mo, but not sure what to do, or info to get?
Any help would be greatful.
Thanks.

Sorry at the reason you're having to ask.
Was he working during the tax year 2005-06 - which is the period 6th Apr 05 to 5th Apr 06? And was he 'employed' - and therefore paying tax under PAYE.
If so - his employers should have provided a P45 (all 4 copies) with final pay / tax details direct to HMRC. And they should have contacted your father's Personal Representative to arrange repayment of any excess tax.
Are you sure this hasn't occurred? In any event your Mum's bank details are a bit premature at this point. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
