Returning to work as a technical consultant

Options
Hi, I am retiring at the end on January 2012, when I am 65, after working for my present employer for nearly 40 years. I may be asked to go back to work for them on a temporary or part-time basis sometime during next year, to help them out over some projects, or doing some training. I will be happy to do this, but only on a consultancy basis. However, I now have some questions that I hope someone can advise me on........
How much more than my present hourly rate should I charge.... 50%, 75%, 100%?
Do I need to draw up some terms and conditions?
Would I be classed as self employed, and therefore have to set up everything that goes with that?
Some advice and guidance would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

If you're charging the company for your time then you are self employed, if they are paying you a wage/salary, you are an employee. I would wait and see whether the offer of post retirement work actually materialises before going any further.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
