I used to work somewhere like this, in my one to ones i was told i was too outspoken/didnt fit in/didnt pull my weight with tasks etc and it really got me down, mainly because i'd made suggestions (when prompted!) as to how to improve the setting. Thing was they were all younger girls (including manager) who all went out together, stuck together and were just generally bullies if you didnt fit in their little gang. I always made an effort but seemed nothing was ever enough.

I left and found a job i was much happier in, got on really well with everyone and their only critisism was that i could be a bit quiet.... I told my new manager in my last job I was told I was too outspoken she nearly fell on floor laughing.

Know that feeling, my old manager used to do the same thing and used to make wild accusations against me. The one time I tried to apply for a job in a different part of the company (hey, I wasnt any good where I was apparently) she refused to let me saying she didnt want to lose me...and then threw a few more accusations my way.

Like you have said, I had nothing in common with my team, all were married/children and they all lived locally to each other whereas I was the other end of town.

Eventually I just gave up when I went off sick, attempted to come in ill because she would moan it affected targets and her pay and as a result got a written notice because I made an effort to come in. She openly said I wouldnt have got one if I hadnt come in. Couldnt win!

Please to say I got out of there and havent looked back! I keep in contact with maybe 2 people from this company and both of them were in the same position as me.
