Amazon oddity

I have received a parcel from Amazon which I did not order. There was no docket inside - the only reason I knew it was from Amazon was due to the return address on the label.
I am waiting for an Amazon delivery and thought that maybe my order had been mixed up with someone else's, but according to tracking it is still with the courier, who I have called and have said it will be delivered on Thursday.
I called Amazon who said it was probably a gift - I said that no-one would have sent us this, but they insist they can do nothing without an order number which I obviously don't have as there was no paperwork with the parcel. I also had to sign for it, which I don't normally with Amazon.
I asked whether it was possible that my order had been mixed up with someone else's but they said not.
Has anyone else ever received something they didn't order from Amazon? Did they ever ask for it back?

Hmm...I received an item from Amazon today which I hadn't ordered - nothing expensive, worth about £15.
There was no information inside, and on phoning I got the same response as you - nothing on the system, no help without an order number.
A family friend rang up a few hours ago and said it was a gift from them, though. Amazon agreed this was quite possible, and when I suggested they included something to let people know it was a gift, said there is an option to not have the recipient have a receipt which is what the family friend had suggested. Amazon said the website always offer gift-wrapping, but if the person didn't opt for it, it just comes in a box with no information.
Is it possible this is the case for you too?0 -
Hi,
a few weeks ago I received a beautiful gift set, direct from Decleor.
It had no info with it whatsoever.
I had no idea who sent it or where it was from, until about a week later I got a letter from Macdonalds hotels telling me I had won a free draw, which I had apparently automatically entered when I booked a hotel room.
Cheers,

Maybe Santa is a little pushed this year and using Amazon to help deliver the goodies? You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
