Class 2 NI Contributions - should I continue paying?

Hello all

I have been working part-time PAYE and part-time self employed for about 2 years, and so paid tax and NI on the SE earnings.

I now work full-time PAYE and do a little SE work. I have been told I can apply for a Small Earnings Exemption from NI contributions, but on reading the form I am not sure if I should, as it states I should pay class 2 contributions if I SE in my spare time, which technically I am!

Am very confused, so any help gratefully recieved!

It depends - if you're earning less than £4,465 PROFIT per year then yes you should definitely apply for exception - if not, you should not....
  • Thanks

This year I will earn less than that in SE earnings, just the letter is confusing about the different categories that would mean I should still pay!

Presuming I am covered as work full-time!
