I got the phone call but her voice changed and she seemed totally disinterested once I said I do NOT want the additional free copies so don't know if I'll even receive the free one as she didn't seem to do anything

You're up early bargain-hunting but then it's the early bird...! I think you will get the free copy, the woman at the end of the phone was probably just sick of not making any commission on the offer.

I had a call about my free copy and I did take up the extra 3 issues for £1, making 4 issues for £1 in total, can't be bad! I've had an email from them about direct debit dates and it looks like my £1 isn't being taken until March so I wouldn't panic if you haven't received your magazine yet - remember a lot of magazines operate 1-2 months ahead for subscriptions from when you can get them in the shops, its a perk for subscribing. I'm not expecting my first copy until late February or early March and I would imagine it will be the same for those of you who have ordered just the free copy (I take out a lot of trial subscriptions and the first issue is usually despatched on or around the direct debit date).

Applied for mine today and got a phone call for an hour later. Quite a hard sell on trying to get you to sign up for an extra 2 issues for £1.00, but just politely declined and said I'd rather try the free one first.

They ask you at the end whether they can send you texts/ call you/ send you junk mail/ give your details to 'specially selected companies'. I refused this and when they asked for an email address I said I couldn't give it as it is a work one which they were fine with. They said the free copy would be sent in 2-4 weeks.
