A U is unused, or unavailable. Sometimes the account doesn't report or it may be you don't use it.
I.e. account with shopping company example Next, the account shows U when the credit line is open but unused.
You can still access it but have chosen not to. I personally would say this would be good, this is what I'm aiming for on my credit report. I have made errors where I have paid off my balance then shut the account straight away, if it's been very high then dropped suddenly I haven't wanted the temptation, however someone once told me at experian to leave it open as this looks better.
This proves you had the credit facility and chose not to use it.

How do i know if its open or closed, i cant find anything that says open or closed and it was last updated december 2009 so i have no idea if its open or not, it just says balance settled and satisfactory. should i just contact them, the thing is i dont remember opening it, its a catalogue and i feel i may have been a victim of fraud but if its a settled line of credit thats open showing i have it and dont need it, they may have done me a favour, i am feeling a little lost, help please lol,0
