Cheapest Kahlua/Coffee Liqueur?

Hi everyone, I've been asking my OH what he wants for a present and I'm only getting the classic, well meant but slightly unhelpful "nothing, you don't have to get me anything".

So I've decided that as he's always said he wants to drink White Russians (his favourite drink) and watch The Big Lebowski (I think, I've never seen it but do they drink them in that? Isn't it something to do with bowling?) I will get him the ingredients for this. I don't need help with getting the milk or the film but its the vodka and especially kahlua I need some advice on.

So I need vodka, looking on mysupermarket Tesco seems to be the cheapest, can anyone confirm this? I'm only looking for generic vodka.

I need kahlua or coffee liqueur, again on mysupermarket Tesco seems to be the cheapest at £11 for 70cl of kahlua that's on offer, but does anyone know if aldi or lidl do their own version that's cheaper?

Thanks in advance everyone.

  • sorry no advice on the cheap booze but just to say my OH loves this film and yes they do drink white russians in it! Make sure you have plenty of ice at the ready as well!
  • Quite often Pubs & Bars use Tia Maria instead of Kahlua & Iceland Normally do a replacment Tia Maria called Black Magic about £5 or £6 a bottle hope this helps

Tia maria is what i use for black russians, not tried the iceland version myself but cant see how you could go wrong.

Dont remember seeing aldi/lidl selling a tia maria equivalent but tesco do they're own though.

the cheap soiree is also in tesco (think it was £7?) - as is coffee flavoured amaretto (no idea on all these spellings) which was £8 or so.

Oh thanks yeah I couldn't find the soiree in our lidls so will check tesco and prob just buy the kahlua there if they don't have it as its the cheapest, if they're even got it, we've only got a tesco express!

ooo, it will be challenging in a tesco express, pretty certain they'll only have that in a regular tesco
