Car Hire in Spain

Hi,
Has anybody hired a car in Spain before.
Would be grateful for any experiences and tips.
I'll be flying into northern Spain (Gerona) but I will be staying in Southern France so I will need to take it over the border.
I'm also landing around 12 midnight so I will need them to be open then.
Is there anything I need to look out for around insurance?
Thanks for any Help/Advise.
Mick

Try https://www.carjet.com - Well priced.
No charge for extra drivers.
No charge for baby/infant seats.
BTW Sometimes you have to pay for full tank of fuel and leave back empty.

The best thing about them is there's no excess on the insurance & you don't have to pay anything up-front to book it. Just reserve the vehicle you require, print off the voucher & hand it in when you get there.
Only gripe I had last year was no warning triangle/spare bulbs/hi-viz vest in the car (all legal requirements in Spain). When I mentioned this on my return - They didn't seem too interested. If you’re unsure what you must legally carry whilst in France/Spain, I would recommend checking out Green Flag’s website.
Hope this helps.

Just read this on the T&C's at carjet
>> Arrival times for your car hire.
>> Our car hire rates include 24 hour car hire service at Gerona Airport with no
>> surcharge for late or night time car hire arrivals. When we confirm your car hire
>> reservation at Gerona Airport, we'll require your arrival flight number into Gerona
>> Airport.
Looks like they will do for me £200 for 13 days - doesn't seem to be any other cost involved so thats is £50-£80 cheaper than I'd been looking at as well.
So yet again more monet saved because of the friendly people of MSE.

I was just going to book then I noticed there is an extra insurance charge for taking the car over the border of 13 days * 7 euro's - this bumps up the price quite a bit but I'll probably still go for it as they dont have the out of hours surcharge that some of the others do.

Carjet are VERY good and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for Spain or the Spanish islands. We used them in Majorca.0

I have used https://www.travelsupermarket.com they search a lot of different companies and are usually very cheap. All the companies tend to use the Big guys, Europcar, Dollar, Hertz etc so they will always be open.0

Have hired two cars from Carjet for later on this year. Actually found them by some googling but glad to see they come recommended by fellow MSEers - that makes me feel better! He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
