Tangle Teezer vs Scalp Massage Brush?

Options
I've tried a Tangle Teezer, and it's good. I have thick hair that's a few inches below my waist.

However, it is rather expensive, and I've found a bunch of brushes that look pretty similar but at a fraction of the price:

Does anyone have any experience of these other brushes, and what did you think? Thank you.

  • I've not tried the other brushes but I would say that unless you brush your hair in layers, Tangle Teezer might not be as good as the bristles are quite short. My hair is quite thick too and it sometimes struggles to get right through to my scalp at the bottom where my hair is thickest.
  • I've not tried the brushes and can remember the 'Eek!' moment when I first saw the price of a Tangle Teezer (shortly before swiftly walking away empty handed!), but I did eventually cave in and buy one because me and my daughter both have 'scary' hair and I was getting fed up with how long it took to deal with the pair of us on a morning. Prior to buying the Tangle Teezer I was spending what must have added up to a small fortune on various shampoos and conditioners that would claim to de-terrify our hair, but these days we can wash our hair in just about anything and have been happily using Smart Price products for the last couple of months. The Tangle Teezer must have paid for itself ages ago, so on balance one might not cost you as much as it seems to on the face of it. I wish I'd bought ours a lot sooner!

  • I'd highly recommend the TangleTeaser, it's awesome! If your hair isn't too bad then HomeBargains have Goody Ouchless brushes in for 99p, not nearly as good on very tangly hair but fine for 99p!

ASOS stock the tangle teaser and there were some codes floating around on here for (think it's ASOSGRAZIA30 making it £7 delivered), I got a back up one for £3.50ish on Amazon a while back.
