M&S has got a Nintendo Wii for £99.00.

How good a price is this? Do you think it is likely to be even cheaper in the January sales?

Compared to 2 years ago, this would have been around £180, but the price has dropped a lot recently.

The £99 price seems to be quite common now - it has been down to £89 (a few weeks back at Asda), but to be honest, I don't think you will get much below that. I certainly wouldn't pay any more than £100 these days - there are always deals around this price now.

The link you gave if for the model bundled with Wii Sports Resort. There are other bundles available now with games like Mario Kart and Sonic & Mario at the London 2012 Olympics for a similar price.

Also have a look in Asda, Tesco and Game for their latest prices.

Be careful if you are interested in using the Wii to play gamecube games though - the M&S link is fine, but there now appears to be a new version of the WII that will not play these, and it features in some of these cheap bundles - you can tell the difference from whether the Wii is designed to stand vertically (Gamecube compatible) or horizontal (will not play Gamecube games)

Yes, agreed.

There is a new variant - certainly the Blue Olympics model is one - that is designed to be used flat and does not have the Gamecube disk compatibility of controller ports. This has probably allowed them to shave a few £'s off the manufacturing costs.

It does say in small print on the box - certainly about being designed to lay flat and not upright.

However, so few people have or still play Gamecube disks, that it is not really an issue IMHO.
