Christmas cards - postal query

Confession...this is about as stupid as you can get but was done in haste before the PO shut on Saturday.
I sent my Christmas cards by 2nd class post on Saturday being the MSE gal that I am (previous years have always been last-minute and 1st class
). The PO had a huge queue (this was at 12.20pm, postal pick-up at 12.30pm) so I crossed the road and was delighted to be able to buy some from Superdrug with a 5% discount, before beating the collection time.
I'm writing out the remainder that I intend to hand deliver this week, all are handmade cards of the same size but I got a bit of a shock when I turned the last one over to find it said "large card" on the back. Can anyone tell me what will happen to the cards I sent, assuming they are underpaid for? I didn't write my details on the back so they can't be re-directed to me, presumably they will be delivered late or not at all?

With it being the spirit of Christmas I hope the Royal Mail will send them all through and forgive it.
If not, the recipients will receive a postcard through the door saying that there is a letter due that has not had sufficient postage on, and they need to go to the post office to pay the remainder (what it was underpaid by, plus £1 ish). From memory, you have the option of attaching stamps to the postcard of the money due and sending that off to have it posted through your door.0 -
Thanks, let's hope that goodwill prevails this Christmas!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

it can be paid by stamp, online or in person
as for spirit of christmas
what do people want?
then moan about cuts in service then moan when theres crazy ideas like being paid0 -
I stupidly stupidly put a second class stamp on a card I sent to Cyprus last year. I realised as soon as i'd posted it and sent another one but they both arrived. I was amazed.0

I did have one delivered to me with the yellow sticker saying £1.02 short - they usually send a card and you have to pay the charge before it is delivered so I must have got lucky.
OP - all you can do is perhaps contact people, prewarn them and apologise for the inconvenience if they have to collect and pay.

This is exactly what will happen. My OH just had a card last week from a family member a large card, the postman did the above. Annoyingly the postage in this case was only short 22p but they add a £1 handling charge to it. The card receiver can pay online, send the card back to the post office with stamps for payment, or pick it up from the sorting office.0 -

only?
22p x 000s/000000s is no small amount
charge items are removed from the mech mail and then manually handled for the rest of the time0 -
I was thinking of it in the way of the way of the person who sent it and not the whole entire postal system/running of/costs.
My OH relative has got over half a million in the bank - but can't put on a 1st class stamp. :silenced:

Every year this comes up. How many years have RM now had this pricing structure in place? Great money maker for RM too. £1 for every card that's underpriced. But people can't really complain at it if they haven't put the correct stamps on, it's been like this for years now.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
