mixed income and NI stamps

Apologies if this is the wrong section of forum; not sure of right place to put it.
I will be coming off JSA in January :j
I will have a mixed income of PAYE and freelance self employed work.
My PAYE weekly pay does not meet the threshold for receiving NI contributions from the employer.
My total hours including self employed work will be less than 16 hours per week, but the income will be more than jsa would pay out. Should I sign on for NI credits, or just pay self employed NI credits?
thanks

Just pay Class 2. You can volunteer to pay Class 1 but it is more than likely that you wouldn't have sufficient Class 1 to qualify for contributions based benefit anyway.0
