FREE Valentines Day Ideas

Thought I would start a post on ideas that don't cost a penny (only a bit of effort!) for valentines day. After all, this is a moneysaving forum, but spending a little time rather than money doesn't have to be in a 'cheap' way. People spend a fortune on gifts and presents, when really the most romantic things don't cost a single penny. After all, the best things in life are free!

Please post your ideas below

To get you in the romantic mood, here's how I proposed:
I got my friend to ring me at about 8pm at night. We went through a pre-reheresed script and came off the phone and I told my girlfriend (soon to be wife) that my best friend had gone night fishing on the cornish coast, fallen over and hurt his leg and couldn't get back up the hillside path. We had to rush out and help him. We quickly dressed up warm and set off. After a 20 min drive and quite a walk to the beach, down a windy path we finaly got down to the beach. There was a full moon but we couldn't see much. We had one torch so I told my girlfriend to go one way with the torch and I'll go the other to try and find my freind. Whilst she walked slowly down the other way, I found my friend and nipped behind a rock. I quickly changed into my best suit and called her over. My freind had set up in the sand hundreds of candles saying 'Marry Me'. As she came over, my friend turned on a baterry powered stereo with our favourite song. I went down on one knee and recited a proposal I had worked on all that month. The scary thing for me was that she didnt say yes straight away! But I soon realised that was because she was crying, but I couldn't see this in the moonlight! When she finally said yes, we opened a bottle of champagne and celebrated.

Now just got to beat this on Valentines day! Any ideas?

I proposed at WrestleMania 21 just after the 20 man battle royal. It was in Los angeles and i had to smuggle the ring in cause they made you put everything in your pockets on a tray before you went through the scanner.

It was the culmination of both a lifelong dream and a good time to propose!

My Fiance proposed to me at Wembley Arena during a Backstreet Boys concert in October 2005. It was during one of their songs where snow pours down...so romantic. And he had to hide the ring in its box down his boxer shorts as they searched you at Wembley! Hehehe! Was very romantic though.

Awwwwwww, the proposals are sooo sweet :smileyhea

My hubby proposed to me on Christmas day a few years back. I knew he was going to as his mum had shown me the ring not realising it was an engagement ring (d'oh), but I kept quiet.

I wondered when he was going to propose ... waited excitedly all day ... and waited ... and waited... I kept wondering what my reaction would be and how to look really surprised. In the end I thought he wasn't going to do it, the family had all been fed and gone home, the kids were in bed and we were sat watching Eastenders

Then the door went and the next door neighbour asked if I would see if I could send her brother an email in Australia as she wasn't sure she was doing the right thing. I went to her house, the email process was dead easy so I thought she was being thick and came home ..

...walked in and all the family were there, the kids were up and hubby was on one knee ... he proposed, family clapped, I cried and was genuinely surprised.

Seems his mum had told him she had shown me the ring by accident and so 'pretended' that she had got it wrong all along.

Took him another 7 years to marry me though :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
