Have you got adverse information on your credit report? You should not be emailing the FSA to ask, they may in turn get back to your employer about this which could look bad for you. If you have a grievance then raise one the right way.0

No adverse (yet)
And it was an anonymous enquiry so I don't know how they would find out0 -
It seems very unfair that they can drastically reduce my income then blame me for being in financial hardship?0

But you don't know that they are going to do that. Go back to my post #3 - there is still a lot of mileage in talking to the employer and the why's, the what for's, and the what are you going to do with it's. More mileage than risking unemployment over it. You don't know that having an adverse report will have any effect on your job at all. Because you don't really know why they are wanting to do this, not really. It might be better if, as a group of employees (no ringleaders!) you can have a rational discussion about it with the employer. You agreed to take a significant pay cut, which seems like a much bigger issue to fall out with them over, so if you were all willing to let that happen, then I can't see that this is going to have people rushing to give up their jobs. If people are genuinely worried, a frank conversation but politely held may salavage something - if only to make the employer undertsand that people are under financial pressure now because of what has happened.0

The form asks if we have had any bankruptcy or ccjs. Is this all they will check or will they look at credit cards etc?0

Although I don't think that there is discrimination here, the fact that it is 1 in 10 makes a whole world of difference to how I view this,I am sure someone more au fait with the legal world will reply but would have thought 1 in 10 would be fine as long as criteria for selection were not discriminatory. Thinking along lines of QC procedures where 1 in 10 transactions are checked.

It must for a reason which is NOT material to the employment contract of any individual, otherwise they would want 100% coverage.
So rather than looking at it as an employment issue, where SarEls's advice will hold, it may be more fruitful to regard this as a Data Processing issue and consider the question of whether the data can be held and processed fairly and whether it is being used for a valid purpose.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi - just stumbled across this thread and thought I'd pop in. I've just been asked by my employer to fill in an ID check form - which states that by signing it I give permission for them to check with a credit reference agency.
Does anyone on here know if that means they will check my credit history too?
Am quite happy for them to do an ID check on me - but I don't really want them gazing into my credit history as it's a bit shot to pieces (I am on a DMP) so I'd prefer my boss didn't know (I am managing it all fine now and am ina pretty senior position and am worried it might look bad).
Do any of you know if this "check" will simply be to verify my identity or will they have a bit of a deeper look?? It says it is to do with "the money laundering act 2007".
Any advice would be great!
Thank you.0
