Wanted: a very warm pair of slippers!

Options
I'm on the look out for a pair of slippers. Mine are quite old and I think its beginning to become obvious to my feet that they no longer serve the purpose required!

I know that the majority of slippers will be cheaper in a weeks time (make that 8 days time: in London there will be a tube strike yet again as greedy tube drivers ruin another Boxing day meaning most cannot get anywhere) but I'm cold now!

I'm mainly looking for warmth but also something I can curl up in (so soft soles). Anyone know of anything that fits the description? Are there any brilliant sales on?

Had a look in Tescos and the nearest I could see was a pair of knitted socks with fur lining for £8. The knitted it part was what did it for me: no way, just no way!!

  • In January this year my son and daughter-in-law got me a pair from Accessorize ( after Xmas sales). They were a bit like Eskimo boots with soft soles an super warm linings. They are still as good as new and I wore themevery evenng this winter curled up on the sofa.
Also good was House of Fraser sale after Xmas< good makes at 75% off.
    Hope this helps.

get a pair of 'homeys' - they are amazing, I just ordered another pair from play.com as they had them on offer for £9.99 - normally they are about £29.99, and well worth it, bets slippers I have ever had, wear them all the time, and you can bung them in the washing machine too! hth
  • I have a pair of emu slippers. Cost £35 but get worn daily. They are 12 months old and still going strong and probably like the UGGS, keep my feet really warm and don't smell.

Thanks for bumping this- I'd spent the past two days searching for the thread!

Am looking for a pair which is washable and I can curl up in- basicly curled up on a chair with them on (its that cold in my home even with the heating on!) I'd love Ugg or Emu types but worry about the cost. I basicly have a limit of about £5 at the moment and thats coming straight from what I can get away with not eating...

I know the highstreet has some good deals right now but not a clue where to look and not a lot of time to look either! If I knew what I was looking for (eg what shop and how much they costed) this would be a great help. I am not in a shopping area unless I go out of my way for the next few days and am so busy so knowing where to go would be helpful ;)

Poundstretcher lloks like its worth a try- anyone know what they're selling in Primark?

    Just to feed back:

Managed to get a fair enough amount of time away and into the shops today, my heating died a lslow death last night and I was too worried about the idea of freezing until it gets fixed which is likely to be a few days or even weeks. I have insomnia so lying awake unable to sleep and freezing cold is not my idea of fun!

Tried Acessorise which had slipper boot things for £10 down from £17, tried Peacocks which had them at £8, Primark had them at £5 which seemed as low as I was going to find them. Also bought a blanket to wrap up in for £5 (they have £3 versions if anyone is interested but the one I got had a pretty pattern on it and I thought I'd push the boat out and treat myself!!)

Did look in House of Fraiser and also in Sports Direct and although they had the knitted sock things which I know would keep me warm but I seriously hate! I couldn't see anything for less then £10 and £7 respectively.

Thanks again for your help everyone :)
