Becoming an HGV instructor

OH is currently employed driving, but the firm is a nightmare and he is looking in to other possibilities. Would anyone have information regarding him becoming an HGV instructor? What does he need? He has had his Class 1 for over 10 years, (not sure if that is relevant!) not sure what other information to give
Would be very grateful if someone could point us in the right direction.
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

Apparently it can cost a couple of grand  From what I have seen the wages are only 22-23000 in nottingham area. Why can't he find another firm? Apart from the obvious lack of jobs.0 -
Thanks for reply. There are not that many companies close enough to where we live. The current company is unbelievably disorganised, several experienced drivers have recently finished there as they are so fed up with it. A few geography lessons for the route planners may be helpful! Sending them off in a big rush to a depot that isn't open until the following day etc etc so they are done early on that day, stuck away from home, and can't earn any money until they can get going again sometimes almost 24 hours later. I shall keep researching to try and find a suitable alternative

Sounds like most haulage companies in the UK. Maybe lorry driving isn't his thing.0 -
to become a driving instructor he will either need to go on his own which would involve a lot of outlay for a truck and insurance etc or he could look in the local papers and call an existing training firm to see what the script is regarding getting a start with them.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I used to hate those days when I got messed about drivers are treated like crap despite the fact we are the most important single driver in the country. Without us, the country would stop! If he wants away then he needs to re-train or apply for a nice office job. Less money to start with but if he can do his management CPC at some time he could find himself climbing the ladder to a better wage. All dependant on what options he has regarding firms.
If you dont want to put your location on here pm me and I can try to help?0
