Going Bankrupt - Not Changed Addresses with creditors

Hi I could do with a bit of advice. Im 23 weeks pregnanat with a mound of debt (£42,000 worth, owed to 24 different companies). Ive got myself into a pickle as we have moved house 5 times in the last 12 months due to my partners work and I have not changed my address with the people I owe money to. I have some creditors at each of the 5 addresses. I am wanting to go bankrupt at the end of december to lighten the load as I am unable to work now due to pregnanacy complications whih means im living on the bog standard ESA of £67.50 a week.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what to do as I cannot change my address with the creditors to my current property as I am in my partners staff accomodation and I am not allowed to recieve post here. Can I still go bankrupt? Iam aware that I will have to put this address down on my bankruptcy petition.

Also I current have no assets as I am living off my partners back and have done for the past 2 year, can the OR take my parters stuff such as the TV and PS3?

Thank You xx:)

    All the best ....

By the way, are you in Scotland or England please?
  • Hi,

So long as you give your correct current address to the Insolvency Service when (if) you go BR then thats fine. The assets you mention would not be at risk (even if they were yours!)
Seems like you BR knowledge is lacking a little - have you taken advice from any debt organisation?

Hi liscott and Welcome to the Bankruptcy (BR) Board as Debt Doctor has said please contact one of the following debt charities ASAP. Please try these they don't charge and are impartial. They will go through all your options with you and if they suggest bankruptcy then come back to this board and we will help you all we can. Also if your not ‘clicking’ with one of the Debt charities do try another. We advise you to try at least two for your own piece of mind. Your BR could be refused if you have not sought advice.
