Light Therapy for Acne - Does it work?

Any of you suffering with acne I urge you to try Blue Flag Compound(available online or health food shops)
One of my teenagers had severe acne(nothing from GP worked) and so they were referred to a dermatologist, only problem was that it was in 3 months time. Not wanting to do nothing in this time went into a health food shop where it was suggested he try Blue Flag (costs £9/£10 for 90/100 tablets) Within a week the skin looked less 'angry' and week on week there was improvement so much so that when derm appt came around the acne was clear(although pick scarring was obvious).
For first couple months 3 tablets were taken twice day and then slowly weaned down to 1 a day. Ran out at one stage and thought we would hold off to see what happend and a fairly large spot appeared-straight back on tablets lol.
Don't know if they will work for everyone but they are a non harmful product and a good price and we found it pretty apparent in the first week that if was doing some good0 -
Persist with the Dianette, it can take a while to have an effect.
The comments about unlicensed topical agents - tea tree, manuka etc - are well meaning enough, but are going to be completely ineffective of your acne is as severe as you describe. Neither is diet going to have a huge impact, although it's obviously advisable to eat a healthy diet. As for Blue Flag Compound - another complete waste of money. Light therapy? - the jury's out on that one, if you want to try it I would recommend that this is under the supervision of a dermatologist.
I take it you are not breastfeeding? In that case, push for that referral to a dermatologist. I would recommend that you also look into tretinoin gel, which can be very effective. Your GP can prescribe if they have had sufficient clinical experience - but again, a complete no-no if you are breastfeeding.
Part of the problem is accepting that you are likely to have oily skin for life, it''s not nice but on the bright side you'll retain your youthful good looks for longer. I would also recommend wearing make-up - just an oil-free cover-up powder such as MAC - on your face, as this will put a stop to the unconscious picking that can make things looks so much worse.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I know that eveyone is entitled to their opinion but have you tried the Blue Flag???
Seriously we tried the anti biotics, the zineryt topical lotion, retin-A(tretinoin?) Duac gel etc (all free prescriptions cause teen was in full time education and entitled to free prescriptions) none of it worked at all in the slightest. Believe me, if it was free and it worked then I wouldn't have gone and paid out of pocket!! We still went for derm appointment(didn't cancel just in case) and he didn't want to see teen again. What more can I say!!
This seriously DID work and I am happy to pay out for it because of this. People 'rubbish' alternative treatments and I def believe that you have to be careful especially with regards to paying out huge amounts for products that make huge claims. IMHO paying out £10 for a product that may work is a small price to pay (many will spend more than that on a mascara, lipstick or quality foundation)if it was in excess of £20 I would be more cautious before trying.
I would love to post before and after photos but for obvious reasons I will not all I can say is that in this case it worked, don't know if it will work for everyone though but unless you have tried it how can you rubbish it??0
