Well, one will probably go in a small jiffy bag but 3 certainly wouldn't.

They might even be able to send one on its own as a "large letter" and the price can jump considerably when you have to send it as a parcel.

This is a very good point. The cost of sending a 240g T-Shirt that will go as a large letter is 92p second class. The cost of sending a 720g small packet is £2.61 second class, so the saving is 15p. If the extra packaging of a parcel were to take the weight over 750g then it would actually be more expensive to send 3 bundled as opposed to 3 separately

Corrrect me if I am wrong here, but I thought that according to ebay rules you aren't supposed to make a profit on postage. So sending me three items together and charging the same as if sent separately would mean the seller was profiting on postage (I understand that for some items it may not make much of a difference to send together but for this particular item it would.) So why am I not allowed to not like it if the seller is making an excessive profit on the postage but not passing this saving (or part of it) on to me, the buyer? I realise I should have asked before I bid, so lesson learnt there, but I was genuinely suprised the seller would not combine postage on this, when I sell I always combine postage unless there is a genuinely good reason why I can't, and in this case the seller was obviously just wanting to make money out of the situation. OK so we are all in it to make money, but if ebay say that postage costs should reflect the actual costs then surely the seller is in the wrong here. I hope she loses stars for postage charges its just a shame I will not have a chance to provide any feedback on that now.

it would have all depended on how the seller decided to send the t shirts in! whether it be a jiffy bag, a large padded envelope or whatever...you don't really have proof that seller would be "profiting" as once a t shirt is folded up and put into a jiffy bag or what not it can be considerably heavier than expected which would bump the price up!

without actualy having the items, you don't know the weight of the items...and you don't know how heavy they would be in whatever they are being sent it so its hard to distinquish what the true costs of P&P would be! ...I wouldn't have retracted the bids , would have paid and just got in touch with ebay or left poor feedback if you found the P&P being OTT

I think you jumped the gun a bit!!

If they didn't want to combine postage, the just pay for the items individually, then if they all arrive in one parcel and not 3, you either leave 3 lots of neg feedback and low stars, or you could be naughty and claim 2 of the 3 parcels haven't arrived, although if doing this, I'd then donate some money to charity, as it's not really playing fair!

By retracting bids, you've missed an opportunity, and I believe eBay don't take too kindly to too many bid retractions!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Exactly, I had an annoyed buyer the other week too. They asked for combined postage after buying 2 of my items. They are 600g each so if I send them together it pushes them over the 1kg 2nd class post limit and has to go either 1st class or standard parcels.
I pointed out to the that sending together would mean standard parcels, perhaps a 6 day wait for them to arrive and a total saving of 15p, or I could send them separately, no discount - but they will go 2nd class and arrive quicker.
Some buyers just don't understand that combined postage doesn't always mean that it will be much cheaper.

Yes that's right, make a fraudulent claim because you don't like the way the seller behaves. Really?!

End result is the seller claims from Royal Mail and the rest of us pay for someone else's dishonesty.

"By retracting bids, you've missed an opportunity,"

An opportunity to do what? Waste your own time and someone else's, over a transaction you know you won't be happy with from the start, with petty demands, thus lowering yourself to the same level as the seller, so you can then screw the seller over by negging them 3 times for not meeting your demands that weren't offered in the listing in the first place.

This is why I send pretty much *everything* by a signed-for delivery service. There are simply too many people out there who are downright dishonest.

    .

how can they claim from Royal Mail for a parcel they didn't send? seller only has one proof of postage and that was delivered.
  • So the seller either has one COP and a receipt with a weight to claim for all items. Or tracking and a receipt with a weight to prove the buyer falsely claimed INR.

But that's not the point, the point is that's downright dishonest to claim INR when that has happened, regardless of anything else.

I quite agree with you. Isn't ebay hard enough without people suggesting we should all become thieves and liars?
