Tax Question - Apologies!

in Cutting tax
I just got laid off from my job, I worked there for 5 months and I was on emergency tax the whole time. My 4-weekly earnings and deductions were as follows:
Pay before tax: £1887.25
Tax: 262.20
NI: 159.75
Student loan: 66.00
Net pay = £1399.30
My tax code was 747L W1
My YTD Gross pay was £7336.40
My tax paid was £891.40
This was my only job this year (April onwards) bar about a 3 week stint in a bar job which I earnt about £800 in and I am now claiming JSA.
Is it likely I'll recieve a tax rebate in April? I find it all really confusing, do I have to wait until I recieve the P60 from my former employer and then claim the rebate or should I start doing something now?
Thank you in advance.

That coding is the 'normal' tax coding so what makes you think you were paying 'emergency' tax?
What tax did you pay on the bar job?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Oh really? from what googling I did I thought it was an emergency tax code. I am not sure about tax from the bar job because I never received a wage slip or a p45 due to the employer ignoring my requests for them.0

yes you were on an emergency tax code
the normal correct code would be 747L whilst yours was 747L W1
the W1 means it is not accumulative: however if you started in april they both give the same results
we need some facts about the second job before we can say anything that
I'm don't know much about JSA so I don't know what happens now0 -
You should give your P45 to the Jobcentre, if there is any tax rebate due it will be paid to you by them either after you sign off or after the tax year end whichever comes first.
Assuming the week 1 basis is sorted, if not you will need to contact the tax office.0 -
Sorry - read quickly and missed the W1 (just looked at the numbers';)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Thankyou for your help. Could you explain what you mean about the week one basis being sorted?
Also, I can never remember, is p45 what you get after you finish a job and p60 an end of year thing, or other way round?0 -
P45 is the multipart document you get when you finish a job
you should have give part of this to the job centre0 -

Week 1 means that no tax rebate would be made even if it was due. The earnings and tax details are not yet held by whoever is using a week 1 code. If you start work before the tax year end the jobcentre will issue you a P45 which you will give to your new employer. If this is week 1 the tax office will eventually advise details to them and if a rebate is due it will then be made but may take a while. If you end the year on week 1 you will have a P60 showing this and partial pay and tax details which you can use along with P45 1A to check if tax rebate due and claim from tax office.
Would just mention again I am not saying you will be due a tax rebate I cannot say on the details so far given but it is possible.0
