I really don't get it!
I have read the articles numerous times.
Does it just suddenly click or did you realise how to do it straight away?

  • Keep reading and re-reading. It should click eventually. Better to be sure before risking your cash.

Do you just keep using the 'free' cash from the betting offers? ie sign upto new ones when you have exhausted one company?

  • Yes, you do 1 offer, pocket the cash, and move on to the next.

Have you looked at the Gambling Introductory Offers and Loopholes thread? Loads of info there. I actually didn't understand a lot there to begin with, instead I found www.freebets4all.com a more useful resource for beginners.

Good luck though - it's definitely worth doing (but only when you completely understand it).
  • Keep reading articles, definitely do not do it until you understand it 99.9%, as it could cost you money if you do not do it correctly. I made about £300 doing it about 3 years ago.

Me & OH spent one summer evening going over & over this, we were ok with the first 85%, but then got stuck when getting to the point of signing up & making sure we were doing the right thing, keep meaning to go back to it, but can't quite face it! Will hv a look at the above link, thanks.
  • I spent about 3 weeks reading up about it, having a few days not reading, going back to it, doing all the calculations on paper etc before I did my first one, after that it was pretty simple (until you get get to the more difficult books!)

If anyone would like spoonfeeding on how to do it, either by messenger or email, I would be more than willing in exchange for referral bonuses (you just use my referral codes and I get paid) you won't have to pay me anything, PM me if interested.

Mods hope this is allowed if not please remove :)

p.s. I am not claiming to be an expert like some people of this board, I can, however guide you through the first week or 2 and after that you will know what you are doing, I have loads of time and patience and will explain things simply!

    My tuppence worth....

Although plenty of money can be made, with a careful disciplined approach, there can be a number of pitfalls.

    Biggest issues include:-

    Not fully understanding the process.
Not fully reading/understanding the Terms and Conditions (which vary greatly between bookmakers).
Making mistakes (e.g. bets that are not properly "matched").
Bookmakers having financial difficulties (when having your money).

Patience and doggedness are essential (many bonuses, withdrawals, require much interaction with Customer Services staff).

You will have to provide copies of your passport/driving license/bills etc. - so if that bothers you think twice.

Matched Betting can be time-consuming and it does bring you into the world of gambling - this can bring dangers if you think gambling could be a problem for you (i.e. if you get tempted...).

My advice would also be to only do this with money you could afford to lose (in case something goes wrong).

Why is this? Is that the case with even the smaller amounts?

It seems to vary quite a lot, even within individual bookmakers.

Like any business, there are several different departments and this can lead to issues (e.g. the Promotions department set up a bonus/offer, but the IT department don't get told or make a mistake in setting it up so it doesn't pay automatically, you then ring the Support Desk who have to find out what's going on before they can help).

Offers can also be withdrawn/amended if there is a bigger uptake than anticipated. This means that the Support Desk have an even bigger job, getting to the bottom of things.

Things can also change pretty quickly - for example if a bookmaker lost money to a fraudulent customer, they may bring in measures to prevent further occurences (e.g. copies of passport/ID that were not previously required).
