Honestly that whole article is disgusting, it is sensationalist scaremongering. They reaally hide the fact that it's all hypothetical and they know people will freak out. Daily Mail doing what they do best!

They haven't got tinned tomatoes or Fray Bentos tinned pies, insofar as I can see. Call that a Stockpile....pah!

That's a rubbish stockpile as far as I'm concerned! I have a kitchen full, the freezer full of frozen meals and cupboards with basic ingredients to make a decent meal. My upstairs wardrobe has treats and canned foods along with driend pasta I currently have no room for but it's about the same amount as they have but no-where near as good as mine. as long as nothing happens to the leccy then...
my stockpile (in case it snows like last year) is 3 cartons of longlife juice, 3 cartons of longlife milk and a 6 pack of catfood (for the cats).
I'm not expecting much snow!:rotfl:
Actually they want to be careful - a colleague of mine had her garage broken into - and food from the freezer was stolen!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I agree - from the pics, there is not enough food for a year altho we can't see the rest of the garage - I suspect that pile had been staged. Loved the Bollinger and Beer
The Daily Fail, once again, failing!!!
Certainly its sensible to stock pile a certain amount of food, and I have, but there is such a thing as taking things to extremes.
Slightly OT but not really... I don't know why councils don't plant fruit trees and nut trees etc when they plant stuff, at least it would be useful for people who needed/wanted to forage
Instead, they waste money seasonally planting things that get ripped up as the season ends, only to re-plant and so on and on and on - it annoys me :mad:0 -
Stockpile for a month/six weeks? Lightweights.....
I do know one family though that literally don't have anything in the cupboards except cereal, jam and coffee type things. And that's not through lack of money either. Her kids come round and look awestruck at my very ordinary pantry cupboard with things like six tins of beans and bags of pasta. (The serious supplies live downstairs in the cold utility room.) Their mum just shrugs and say Tesco is five minutes away so why keep the stuff in the house? She doesn't belive in carrying cash either. So when she, her debit card and her three kids turn up at my door after the banks crash and Tesco is looted bare in two hours, what should I do?Val.0 -
Get them scrubbing the floors in return for food. And you could teach the mother how to cook.0

That's not a stockpile! Far better stockpiles on here when Tesco did their DTD earlier in the year :money:. Speaking of which, I'm down to my last bottle of fabric conditioner and second last bottle of detergent :eek:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
